Can I Shower, Swim, or Sleep in It?
The honest answer depends entirely on the metal, not a blanket yes or no. Solid 10K-18K gold handles daily showering, swimming, and sleeping without issue — it's naturally tarnish-resistant. Sterling silver can handle occasional water contact fine, but chlorine and salt water accelerate tarnishing with repeated exposure, so it's worth removing before a swim specifically, if not before every shower. Gold-plated pieces are the most vulnerable — water, soap residue, and friction all speed up how fast that thin gold layer wears through.
A safe general rule regardless of metal: a quick rinse and pat dry after any water exposure prevents most of the long-term dulling people associate with "ruining" a piece.
Egypt Artisans pieces come in stainless steel, sterling silver, and gold-plated finishes. Stainless steel generally holds up best to daily water exposure; sterling silver is fine for occasional contact but benefits from a quick rinse after swimming; gold-plated pieces are the most worth protecting from prolonged water exposure, since that's the finish a worn-through gold layer affects most visibly.
